Cambridgeshire carp record broken

A Cambridgeshire county record 58lb 8oz mirror has been banked by Jamie Clossick.
Constant observation and being prepared to move during a four day session finally paid off for the Blackpool rod when the colossal mirror picked up his bait.
“I had two liners while I was cooking tea then an absolute one toner. I noticed a big swirl on the surface at 40yds and my legs started to buckle as I knew the big girl always has a tendency to hit the surface early on in a fight.
“She looked massive in the net and it’s a sight I will never forget. She went 58lb 8oz on two sets of Reuben scales and smashed my mid forty pb to bits,” said Jamie.
Nash Scopex Squid boilies presented via a PVA stick tempted the well known mirror for the 34 year old DJ. Jamie used a 15lb Stealth Skin hooklink tied to a size 6 Korda Wide Gape hook.

The huge specimen, pictures of which will be printed exclusively in Tuesday's Angling Times, was caught from a Midlands gravel pit by Grant Dunn from Swadlincote in Derbyshire, who was fishing with his father at the time. He claims to have weighed it at a staggering 10lb 8oz.
Get your copy of the AT next Tuesday to read the 23-year-old forklift truck driver’s account of how the capture unfolded, plus the reaction from big-fish stars Matt Hayes and Martin Bowler….
