Huge 19 lb bream landed

ONE of the biggest bream ever landed in this country - a huge 19lb 2oz specimen - has been taken by a pleasure angler from a southern stillwater.
The massive fish, which is just 8oz below the current British best, was caught by Trevor Thorne, who admits to going fishing just three or four times a season.

Bowler: livebaiting should remain legal

ANGLING Times columnist Martin Bowler has today urged the sport to campaign for livebaiting to remain as a legal method of predator fishing.
In an exclusive video clip for www.anglingtimes.co.uk, the top all-rounder and twice British record holder claimed that using live fish for bait was one of his favourite methods.
"I'm a hunter and catching pike with live bait is a devastating, natural way to fish and it should continue. But pikers have a key role to play - baits must only be used when they are caught from the venue you are fishing - we must never transfer fish otherwise we shoot ourselves in the foot."
