Solved: monster pike mystery


FOLLOWING an incredible response from readers all over Europe, Angling Times can exclusively reveal the amazing truth about the monster pike featured on last week’s front page (pictured).
Many people originally believed the fish was from a lake in North America, while others thought the Baltic region or the Rhineland area of Germany a more likely location.
Estimates on its possible weight, phoned in by numerous renowned big-fish anglers, also varied wildly, with most putting it at somewhere between 50lb and 65lb.
In the end it was a call from an AT reader in the Netherlands which brought the mystery to a close.

Another twenty for legend Bob


ANGLING Times legend Bob Church capped off a great winter’s pike fishing with the capture of this 21lb 8oz specimen.
The Northants-based England fly-fishing international turned specimen angler targeted a local Northamptonshire gravel pit with a white and red diving plug to tempt the fish, his seventh twenty of the season.
