THE drains in and around Spalding in Lincolnshire are renowned for their predator potential, with many fine-looking specimens like this personal best 21lb 8oz pike on offer for those prepared to put in the legwork.
It was taken by Ian Thompson, from Stamford in the same county, and fell to a deadbait which the 30-year-old presented using an ancient centrepin reel.
Over the course of the same day Ian, and his brother Dean, took a number of other fish, including a new personal best of 13 lb 12oz for Dean.
